Vancouver Thunderbirds Hockey believes a coach has the ability to encourage a player to do things they would never believe possible;  strengthen a team to overcome all odds; and take a group of young people through an experience that will stay with them forever. We are excited to announce the first group of coaches who will lead our TBird program for the 2018-19 season:

Atom A1: Amy de Bree
Amy is entering her seventh year as a Head Coach within the rep division and her third as the head coach with the Atom A1 team. Her focus will be on bringing an encouraging environment for our youngest rep players.

Peewee A1: Adam Shell
With a decade of coaching at college and universities including our Vancouver neighbours at UBC, Adam has been part of a number of TBird teams over the past two seasons and will be taking the reins for the Peewee A1 team for this season.

Peewee A2: Brian Busenius
Returning for a second season at the helm of the Peewee A2 team, Brian will continue to provide a strong skill development focus for the team while offering his experience as a coach mentor for young coaches.

Bantam A1: Nate Fleming
After playing in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in Europe and the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL), Nate is returning to the Lower Mainland to join the TBirds coaching staff. With experience as a coach at the university level at UBC, Nate will bring a wealth of knowledge from on and off the ice to lead the Bantam A1 players.

Bantam A2: Danny Hildebrand
Back for another year helping develop our Bantam aged players, Danny brings almost two decades of coaching experience to the team. Working with a strong philosophy around skill development and maximizing the opportunities for this age of player, he will be a strong support for his players during this transitional stage in their hockey career and lives.

Midget A1: Mike Todd
Mike’s name is synonymous with the TBirds and we are excited to have him at the head of the Midget A1 team for this season. His commitment to player development for the TBirds will be instrumental in leading this group of players.
