First year players

Maximum 30 skaters

New Player Preparation Camp

This three day camp is specifically designed to welcome our first year players in H1, H2 or Intro to Hockey. Included in this camp will be an equipment check to ensure you have everything just right to stay safe on the ice, as well as an introduction to the world of minor hockey. It will be a great way to introduce new players to the rink, getting ready, and to show them just how much fun to expect every week once the season starts! 
 
Price: $60 + GST              Dates: August 21, 23 and 25 (Monday, Wednesday and Friday)

Second year players

Maximum 30 skaters

Hockey Tips Prep Camp

With a year of hockey under their belts, our second year T-Birds will get a refresher course on the basics and be ready to fly at the beginning of the season. This camp is open to players who have completed Hockey 1 or one year of the Intro to Hockey program. 
 
Price: $169 + GST               Dates: August 21-25

H3/H4

Pre-Season Training Camps 

These camps are for all of our Thunderbird players to have the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. The focus will be on skating and puck control in a high intensity environment through a combination of drills, small area games and scrimmages.

H3 / H4: 10:15 - 11:15 am  (Lead Instructor: Amy de Bree)

 

Atom

Maximum 30 skaters for all camps
Maximum 4 goaltenders for 1) rep prep camps, 2) training camps, and 3) Thinking the Game - A Small Area Games camp

Rep Prep Camp

These camps are designed to prepare players for the rep tryouts that will begin August 26. Ice sessions will be a combination of high intensity flow and battle drills, competitive small area games, and scrimmages. Each camp schedule will start with a one hour ice session, followed by an off-ice session (seminar or dryland training) with a second one hour ice time to close out the camp each day.  

Price: $399 + GST               Dates: August 14-18         

Atom: 7:15 am - 10:45 am  (Lead instructor: Mike Sommer)

 

200 ft of Defense

Focusing on developing the skills necessary for defencemen in the current game, this camp is all about building complete defencemen. Players will be taught how to combine these skills with the tactics to be complete offensive and defensive players.

Price: $169 + GST               Dates: August 14-18

Atom / PeeWee: 2:45 - 3:45 pm (Lead Instructor: Adam Shell)

  

Puck Skills and Shooting

This camp will be a perfect choice for the player who wants to improve their game with the puck. The camp will cover the following elements:

Puck Skills: Technique, 360 degree of puck control, puck control and awareness, puck protection, forehand only control, quick hands and speed, in tight advanced creative puck handling, toe drags, backhand drags, chips and flips

Shooting: Technique, quick release, shot variation, angle change, accuracy and power, in tight scoring, creative shot selection (toe drags, back-hand forehand, shooting through stick or body), shooting with resistance, shooting with back pressure.

For the Atom age group, this camp will also serve to assist in the transition from the cross-ice format to full ice game play.

Today's game requires players to excel in tight spaces and have the ability to escape with the puck. This camp will help athletes develop their hockey sense in an environment where players can hone their competitive and physical abilities. The focus will be on combining player skills with game situations.

This camp will focus on the tactics to retrieve the puck, taking a hit to make plays and tight space contact. It will be a great camp for any of our bantam or midget players who want to learn the art of body checking in a safe environment and how to use it successfully in today's game.
