As a hockey referee you will learn life skill that carry on outside of the rink……..The last 18 months have been incredibly challenging in so many ways, but we take hope in that things are finally turning a corner, and there is “light at the end of the tunnel”.  As you know, minor hockey is back in full swing with games at all levels fully underway. While participants have flocked back to the ice, we are experiencing a significant shortage of on-ice officials, jeopardizing the ability to have games run as planned.

The Vancouver Thunderbirds are pleased to announce one final opportunity to attend a New Officials clinic and become an official on Sunday, November 28th, 2021. There are two parts to this clinic plus a prerequisite:

  1. Classroom session 1pm-5pm            Kitsilano Community Center
  2. Ice session                       5pm – 6pm         Kitsilano Arena

In order to participate in this clinic there is an online course that needs to be complete before can register.

It is estimated this Hockey University course will take approximately three (3) hours to complete. This virtual training is for all NEW Level 1 and 2 Officials (individuals with no prior Hockey Canada officiating experience). All NEW Officials are required to complete the Hockey University ‘Officiating 1/2’ eLearning course in its entirety prior to registering for an HCOP certification clinic (in-person).

If you are interested in becoming an official please respond to JWilson@vancouvertbirds.ca who will send you a confirmation email and registration link for the clinic.
