We are very pleased to announce there will be some significant enhancements coming to the Thunderbirds Bantam and Midget rep program next season.

Discussions with coaches, members, board members and staff have identified key elements that will deliver a higher level of skills development and secure stronger coaching for our players to elevate our rep program offering. The Thunderbirds High Performance Program will provide our players with the opportunity to grow as athletes and players while they remain at home and school with their friends at a more reasonable cost than other similar programs on offer.

The program involves increasing the number of on-ice skills sessions, providing access to a full dryland training program, and securing higher level coaching to develop our players. The new program is based on feedback from coaches and families following last season’s Bantam A1 pilot program. The cost of the program is an amalgamation of last year’s registration fee, rep fee and the costs associated with the majority of items that traditionally make up team fees. It is very similar to the overall cost paid by last year’s Bantam A1 families.

We are currently accepting coaching applications, and with an additional financial commitment from these teams towards coach remuneration, we expect to secure excellent coaching for these teams shortly. We will host an information meeting on the High Performance Program in the near future.

In the meantime, please direct any questions you may have about this exciting new development for our players and families to our Executive Director, Tanya Foley.
