Over the holiday season we are reminded just how fortunate we are to be involved in the great game of hockey. For teams in our organization, it’s a time to show how hockey can pay it forward and give back.

On Sunday December 9th our Midget A1 team spent their day at four Vancouver Safeway locations collecting donations for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The holiday season can be extremely tough for those families less fortunate. The Food Bank plays a very important role at this time of the year ensuring families have enough to go around. The teenagers spent the whole day collecting and it was an absolute success. Way to go guys!

The next weekend on the 14th our Atom A2’s got into the giving spirit hosting a fundraiser at UBC and Kerrisdale with proceeds going to the BC Children’s Hospital. The kids raised some “dough” Selling delicious Krispy Kreme donuts to help with some of the costs that will be coming in February. The Thunderbirds have been accepted into the illustrious Apex Mountain Holiday Classic in Penticton. This was a fundraiser that combined hockey and outdoor experience as a channel to support BC Children’s Hospital. The day went very well and a lot of Krispy Kreme donuts were sold. Thank you Atoms!

Purdys Chocolate fundraiser saw some amazing success! The total amount purchased got all the way up to $73,068.98. This was all thanks to every single Thunderbird team participating in the fundraiser.

Top Teams:

Below Atom – H1 Lightning with $5101 in sales
