Skate.Shoot.Soar! Club Night

Thunderball 2018 is going to be outstanding! The Hellenic Centre will be transformed into the setting of your favorite local club that will get your heart pumping and your fun meter going through the roof.

This is the one night every season that all our parents have the opportunity to see friends from across all Thunderbird teams outside of a freezing rink. Coffee will be replaced with, well something a bit stronger, and laughter will reign all night long as you travel around the room reminiscing about the great times with everyone there.

We are taking a bit of a different direction this year and turning the night into one full of dancing, raising a glass, and just enjoying being part of the TBird family - a family that deserves to be applauded for the amazing people that belong to it.

Gather all your friends and come out for a night to remember!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Thunderball?
Thunderball is the only time all year that our parents have a chance to talk to each other without needing winter apparel all evening long. It is a chance to mix and mingle with parents and TBirds supporters on a winter's evening without having to be at a rink. Food stations, cash bar, games, raffles, auction and a lot of great music set the atmosphere with a little bit of a different twist each year. For 2018, be prepared for a lot of dancing and laughter as you move around the room to take part in all the fun.

How is Thunderball a fundraiser?
During the event, there will be a few ways to help. A 50/50 draw, a contest to win a registration fee for next season, a game of heads and tails and perhaps one or two other games around the room will all provide a fun way to get rid of those pesky $20 bills that you will have filled your wallet with before coming.

The feature elements of the night will be in the auctions. We will start to tease out the items closer to the event but, as in previous years, the live auction will present a few high end items that typically bring in thousands and the silent auction items that provide opportunities to support for all budgets.

What is the profit used for?
This annual fundraiser is Vancouver Thunderbird Hockey's way of helping keep the rising costs of ice from impacting registration fees every year. While there are other elements in our fees, payments for the ice make up the largest portion and with a minimum annual increase of 5% for all our ice, Thunderball has played a key role in helping us keep fees the same for the past three years. We are committed to the continued development of our players, and if we can help this happen by having a fun night out, what better way is there to do something great for our kids.

What is the dress code?
Thunderball 2018 will officially be a semi-formal event, but if you want to go all out, feel free to pull out the diamonds, ball gowns and tuxedos!

What should I expect?
This year's event will have a couple changes for those that have been before. Gone are the formal sit down tables as they will be replaced with a format that will allow the social butterflies to move about the room to speak with anyone. There will definitely be a few special areas around the room you will most certainly want to explore. Come ready to enter into a super charged with fun environment with a group of people who are all there for a great reason!

What time do I need to be there?
The doors will open at 6:30 pm, the live auction will start at 8:30 pm and the silent auction will close at 10:00 pm. Lots of other elements will happen between these times, but you will also want to check out the after hours element that will start at 10:01 and that's when we find out who really knows how to make the most of a night out...there might even be a special prize for the last person standing!

On the ticket options, it mentions a bidder number. What does that mean?
As we know everyone will want to be part of the auction, we are making it really easy! Your ticket purchase is tied to your bidding number for the auction at the event. You will have the ability to use the credit card used to purchase the tickets for any auction items you win. If you want to have your own bidding number, and have your own credit card tied to it, be sure to purchase Single tickets separately using the card you want to have added to the "vault". If you are a couple who are comfortable having any items purchased by either party being charged to the credit card used to purchase the tickets, then you can select the Couple ticket option to have both tickets bought in one transaction.

What if I can't attend but would like to support the Association through this fundraiser?
You will be missed! We would love to have all of our parents and supporters be able to join us but we know that isn't possible. If you would still like to be part of this amazing fundraiser, you can provide a secure donation by selecting the "Give" button. Thank you for your support!
