Thunderball 2020 is happening February 1!

What is Thunderball?
Thunderball is a chance for you to mix and mingle on a winter's evening surrounded by great food, drinks, laughter, a few games and auction items. The focus is on providing a fun night out where you can spend time with some really amazing people who we are lucky to call our TBirds family. Whether you are a Thunderball veteran or just coming for the first time, we are excited to have you be part of the only time our association can all get together.

What will this year's Thunderball be like?
Every year is a little bit different, and this year will be no exception! We are back to the same venue as last year and it was an amazing spot - lots of parking, big space, and, most importantly, a later closing time! We expect A LOT of nostalgic 90s attire, music, and - well while there is no 90s specific food, the buffet will be great too! Check out the photo gallery at the bottom of the page for sights from last year and get a sense for just how much fun the night will be!

How do I get tickets? 
Tickets are on sale now through the Thunderball 2020 site - click here. You can buy individual tickets or a full table of 8.

Individual tickets including dinner = $75
Table of 8 seats = $600

Latecomer Tickets will be on sale in January (after 9:00 pm) = $45

 

What is the profit used for?
Starting in 2020, every penny of profit from the event will go towards our new Thunderbirds Bursary program. This program will be used to help TBird families who need a bit of extra financial assistance to play the 2020/21 and future hockey seasons. We are really excited about this change and look forward to partnering with every one of our members to maximize the assistance we can provide to our TBird family.

How is Thunderball a fundraiser? 
There will be a few ways to get involved. In the past we've had things like 50/50 draws, a game of heads and tails, wine pulls and so many other fun ways to get rid of those pesky $20 bills that you will have filled your wallet with before coming.

The feature elements of the night will be the auctions. We will start to tease out the items closer to the event but, as in previous years, the auction items provide opportunities to support for all budgets. This year's silent auction will be done entirely online so everyone can participate from anywhere including during the actual event - so feel free to share the link with your family and friends!

You can do one or all of the following:

1) Buy a ticket

2) Donate an auction item (scroll down to complete the form)
Fill out the form below to send us the information on what you can donate. This can be done as an individual, a group of friends, a business (including a chance to promote your business on the item on the auction site), or as a team. No minimum or maximum value - we will either list it on its own or package it with other items. Examples of items are below as well but we welcome creativity!

Note that anyone that donates a larger item (approx value of $2000 or more) that can be part of our live auction portion will receive featured promotion on the Thunderball 2020 site as well as some VIP perks onsite. 

3) Donate directly to the Bursary.
Click on "Donate" at the top right of the Thunderball 2020 site. All monies raised will be put to the Thunderbird Bursary program.

Do teams need to donate anything this year?
All teams will need to donate two bottles of wine (minimum value of $25). Information on where to drop these will be sent to the fundraising leads for each team by early January. In the past, we asked every team to donate an auction item with a minimum of $300 but we are changing that this year and welcoming auction items from everyone. A team is more than welcome to band together to submit an item or donate directly to the Thunderbird Bursary program, but we may have more than one item from each team, or perhaps friends want to band together to put something in, so we are not restricting donations in any manner this year. We hope that people will participate willingly and make things even better than before.

I want to donate an auction item. What are some ideas for auction items I could donate? Who do I contact?
The sky is the limit really! Gift certificates for a dinner out, Canucks or concert/play tickets, video game console and/or games, ski/snowshoe passes, wine/beer/liquor baskets, weekend getaway options, etc, etc. For the live auction: unique experiences, girls/boys weekend package, home furnishings are all some examples that people love.
