Vancouver Thunderbirds Hockey believes in a "player first" approach to delivering programs and our new vision, mission and values have been based on this understanding. As a result, over the coming months, decisions on programming and the overall culture of our association will stem from this approach as we focus on aligning to the Long Term Athlete Development Model for our on-ice approach and develop additional opportunities for our players to add to life experiences through hockey.
Long Term Athlete Development
Athletes need to do the right things at the
right time to develop in their sport. The LTAD model has been adopted globally and is now a Canadian standard.
Recreational Team Balancing
As members of Pacific Coast, our C Division operates as balanced teams. The process for the upcoming season will be communicated at the end of August.
Rep Player Selection Process
Rep tryouts are an important part of each season. Interested players must register for tryouts by July 15. Information will be provided in August on the website.
Dale Cheney Scholarship
Each spring, scholarships are awarded to deserving graduating Thunderbird athletes. Application information will be posted after Christmas each season.
Thunderbirds Apparel
Thunderbirds works with Cyclone Taylor and BeastVan to provide a variety of apparel options for our TBirds family. Details are provided at the beginning of each season.
