Vancouver Thunderbirds Summer Camps 2019

Recreational Players

August 12-16
August 19-23

Hillcrest Centre

With rep tryouts starting August 24 and the need to hit the ice as prepared as possible, we have developed a camp schedule that will let you be at your peak performance level. Our rep prep camps are designed to reach the highest intensity levels with our specialty camps fine tuning specific areas of your game. If you are unable to attend a rep prep camp, we have arranged our specialty camps to, for the most part, allow you to sign up for two back to back in your age category so you are able to get fully prepared.

We recommend that if you register for a rep prep camp in the second week that you select one or two specialty camps in the first week to get your stamina back up on the ice.

Rep Prep Camps

These camps are designed to prepare players for the rep tryouts that will begin August 24. A goalie instructor will be among the coaching staff for these camps.

For our atom and peewee aged players, these camps are full day camps that will include:

  • two ice sessions including one focused specifically on skating with Karen Kos
  • a daily dryland sessions with Twist Performance
  • a daily cross-training activity that will be a fun and effective way to prepare for the season. Depending on weather, the players will participate in off-ice activities that will provide cross training elements with a lot of fun involved.

For our Bantam aged players, we will run two back to back ice times to maximize their focus on preparing for the tryouts and will include one led by UBC Head Coach and Thunderbird skills instructor Graham Thomas. The other session will be led by puck control and shooting expert Josh Bonar. We also recommend that you sign up for the Bantam checking session the previous week to maximize preparation.
