Thunderbirds High Performance Program

Vancouver Thunderbirds offers more than just a chance to play hockey at a higher level of play for our U11 to U18 rep divisions. We have developed a program that will allow players to focus on improving their overall athleticism as well as their skill as a hockey player.

All ages will have access to the full PCAHA league play, two team practices per week as well as additional on-ice skills. Contract coaches are secured for most teams with additional skill instructor support for any parent coached teams.

The U13 A1, and all teams in the U15 and U18 High Performance Program will provide players the opportunity to develop their athleticism through dryland training. For the A1 teams, the dryland component is part of the official program, and all U15 and U18 A2/A3 players will have the opportunity to opt-in to weekly sessions directly before or after their team practice.

Players will pay the base registration fee with their registration the same as all TBird players, however the total fees collected by the association in the fall replace the rep fee and the vast majority of the previous team fee. Included in the high performance fee are a coaching fee, additional ice times, tournament allocation to cover entry fees and coach costs, apparel package (all A1 teams), dryland program (U13, U15 and U18 A1), as well as a small amount that can be applied to additional skills or off-ice team elements.

We will have confirmed costs in place later this summer as we finalize contracts for both apparel and dryland however the maximum overall fee (including base registration fee you will be paying in May) will be:

A1 players: approx $4250
A2 players*: approx $3500
* A2 players will be given the opportunity to opt-in individually to the dryland or apparel programs and will be charged separately
